  • 2009 Cadillac STS-V

With the new CTS-V being a smashing success, Cadillac has given insiders a taste of the soon to be released STS-V.  The verdict? Another smashing success.  The car has almost all the performance, power, and handling of the CTS with the added luxeries and amenities expected of top of the line models.

The STS-V puts out a bit less power than the CTS model, it’s supercharged V8 produces 469 horsepower, 81 less than the CTS-V,  and 439 ftlb. of torque @ 3900 rpm.  It’s no slouch, reaching 60 mph from 0 purportedly under 5 seconds.  The great benefit of having slightly less power (is that a benefit!?) is that the luxurious STS allows the driver to feel even more comfortable and relaxed while rocketing to speed on the highway.

The standard features list is extensive, the only options being cross drilled rotors, a sunroof delete, and an engine block heater.

The price for this Detroit master car starts around $83,000 MSRP, including a gas guzzler tax. The BMW M5 starts only a few grand more, although the only benefit you will gain for that money is perhaps a bit more prestige from the nameplate.  In all actuallilty the STS-V is a truly remarkable car that stands AT LEAST equal with the M5 in almost all respects.
