M.U.L.E., which stands for Multiple Use Labor Elements, is... More an outer space game of economics, exploration, and land development. M.U.L.E.s are robotic workers that you enlist to do your nation's farming, mining, and energy producing. Prior to outfitting your M.U.L.E., you must choose a character to portray: Mechtron, Bonzoid, Flapper, Gollumer, Leggite, Packer, Spheroid, or Humanoid. Each character has slightly different characteristics (some are better farmers, others love the mountains, etc), but they all begin the game with energy credits, food credits, and some cash. The game can be played by up to four human opponents. If the number of players is less than that, the NES controls the remaining (one, two, or three) characters. You can play M.U.L.E. in the Beginner, Standard, or Tournament modes; in each game, the winner is the player who gains the greatest net worth. To amass your fortune you will need to carefully manage your resources while buying land, producing crops, mining precious minerals, bidding on (or selling) food at auctions, makings trades, and buying goods. Also, you can visit a pub to do a little gambling, and you can go Wampus hunting in the mountains to help you shore up your bank account. From time to time, Planetquakes, Acid Rain, and Pest Attacks will destroy some of your valuable commodities.
